Is there a program that lets me install and run programs on an external hard drive?

I know you can just change the install directory in a install wizard, but i mean to install programs so they will work when i use my drive on another computer? Is there a program that lets me install and run programs on an external hard drive?not possible. Unless it is a dos based program or a program that just uses one .exe file and does not require an install, then, a program cannot be transferred between computers unless it has been installed on both. The install process creates program specific information in the registry and also loads some .dll files to the windows folder. A program must be installed on every computer in which it is to be used on. Sorry for the bad news.

Good Luck HTH.Is there a program that lets me install and run programs on an external hard drive?I believe there's no such thing. When you install application, no matter what it is, it's also installed in system partition (C:\Windows) so it's not only installed in the application's folder. So if you use the external HDD with different computer, how does the OS will understand the application in the external HDD since the information is saved in previous computer? Is there a program that lets me install and run programs on an external hard drive? If you have connected the HD up to any computer, and installed things onto it, they will be available for use off the HD, you don't need a program to run files on a portable HD. The HD will appear in My Computer when you connect it. Just click on the icon and it will open up your HD.Is there a program that lets me install and run programs on an external hard drive?try this.
