Do you need to change your bios if you install a new cpu?

sometimes you have to change the bios version....like if your going from a dual core to a quad core....but its a good practice to never update it unless its totally necessary to do so...

best way to find out is to go to the manufactures site of the motherboard and find the cpu supported list....when you find your cpu it will list what bios version you need to have in order to run the new cpu....

most likely you wont have to change it....i only had to do it once for a cpu when i upgraded from a e6600 dual core to the quad 6600 kentfield chip...
