Do i need to install a new firmware to my xbox 360 if i change the dvd lens?

my xbox doesn't read games and dvd's, it only reads cd's....pls help...Do i need to install a new firmware to my xbox 360 if i change the dvd lens?install a new lens...buy one from a store and it will work just fine.
