Though it does depend on the exact model of router.

Generally, if you buy a router it's really simple to set up - the modern ones all have %26quot;wizards%26quot; which step you through the whole process, using your web browser. All you need to provide is the user name and password that the Post Office gave you when you signed up with them. It will take no longer than 5 minutes.

Buy a good brand of router e.g. Netgear, D-Link, Belkin, and you should have no problems. Can i get a wireless router that i can buy were i dont have to install and change anything? Most wireless routers don't require that you install any software. The standard linksys G band router, for example, does not require any software installation - it comes WITH software to make it easier for techno-neophytes to work with, but if you sortof know what you're doing, there's no reason to install the software.
