We are installing wd drive and entering utilities to change boot sequence to start with cd rom to load operating system. Computer won,t change the first drive to cd.how do we get computer to start with cd support and not the new hard drive which has no system on it
We want to load windows 2000 on it. thanks to everyone for any help you can give. We tried f10 and going thru the utilities no help there also.Can,t change order of boot up on my compaq,install new drive?you can try F8, but if you put the cd in, it should boot from that..
did you check dip swtch settings on the HD?Can,t change order of boot up on my compaq,install new drive?umm ya u need to go it to the bios and cahge the seting whre ya liveCan,t change order of boot up on my compaq,install new drive?first ask yourself this - do i really want to keep a compaq...if the answer is yes then when you turn it on you should get the compaq logo, hit esc and you should see the startup screen. then on the screen it will tell you what to press to enter setup (bios) usually f2 but sometimes del. navigate the menus to change boot order. save the settings and exit (usually f10). then reboot.

Before the windows logo pops up, press F2. That will take you into the BIOS. There is a menu that says %26quot;Boot%26quot; and you can change the order of your boot sequence there. :)
edit: ignore the %26quot;windows logo%26quot; part since you probably don't have an OS installed yet, but anyway, pressing f2 (though sometimes f12) will bring up your set-up onto screen, or BIOS.
I hope this helps. ^_^Can,t change order of boot up on my compaq,install new drive?Change the boot sequence through the Bios settings, make sure the win 2000 disk is in the cdrom when you turn on the computer. Maybe your win 2000 is not a bootable disk.
