In windows xp how do i install a program other than the default when no options are given to change it?

is it possible? if so how?In windows xp how do i install a program other than the default when no options are given to change it?I personally do not see how it would be possible during the installation process itself, unless the program allows you to change the defaults during the installation to start with. It is also important to point out that some software packages only have the default option to start with, though it does not necessarily mean it cannot be customised after the installation.

As you probably know a lot of software allows you to choose the installation with either minimal, normal (default) or custom installation options. As I mentioned above many others do not.

As regards the installations options, in most cases it is only relevant as regards the actual hard disc space used. Software with more than one installation option allows you to either add or remove additional components of the software package. Many however require you to install the lot and you can customise the interface layout after the installation, but will not allow you to remove optional components as it is critical to the functionality of the program you are installing.

It all comes down to how the software has been compiled in the first place. This is why Windows software in general in know for its 'bloatware'.
