Can I change my v brakes and install disc brakes on my GT all terra mountain bike?

I have a GT outpost all terra bike that I bought at a thrift store and was wondering if I can upgrade the brakes to Disc brakes without much modificationCan I change my v brakes and install disc brakes on my GT all terra mountain bike?GT All Terra. That is not a model. That was actually written on several models in the 90's. If I am guessing correctly that the bike is from the 90's it does'nt have disc brake capabilities. Do you see the two nubs behind the right leg (when facing the fork)?

those are the disc brake mounts. The mounts on the rear triangle look similar. Does your bike have those? If so, it is disc brake ready. If not; you can spend a lot of money and time to install them, but I personally use cantis, and v brakes.Can I change my v brakes and install disc brakes on my GT all terra mountain bike?NO you cannot the fork will not allow it or the seat stay on the frame do not have the mounts for the calliper - they arent there! New wheels would be needed even if you could on the frame , estimated cost (with Tektro aguria comp disc %26amp; wheels $400 +/-). my mate did it to his avalanche all terra.

he realised he could because the 1.0 version has disk breaks to start.

but depends on the forks u have because some do not allow it.
