If i change my processor would i have to re-install windows?

noIf i change my processor would i have to re-install windows? Not at all,

but it might as you to reactivate the windows

operating system(windows xp)is stored on harddrive, till the movement u change ur HDD,no need to do thatIf i change my processor would i have to re-install windows?no, but you might need to change the settings in the BIOS to do that. adjust the voltage, clock speed, ETC. Id let a pro do that.If i change my processor would i have to re-install windows? No, you will not. You will have to reinstall Windows if you change your hard drive out.

PS: Don't turn on a computer without a processor, you'll get killed. If i change my processor would i have to re-install windows? Not unless you change your mobo too.

BTW, in almost all cases, BIOS will automatically recognize the new chip...if it is an appropriate chip for your mobo that is.

...and, BTW, upgrading your CPU (as long as it is compatible with your mobo) is one of the easiest things to do in a computer. You don't need to reset anything if it is compatible with your mobo/BIOS. Just make sure it is a compatible processor with your mobo. Start by knowing what socket it is...478? LGA775? Etc. Good luck, keep learning, and above all...HAVE FUN. Don't let the naysayers turn you off. We all learned the same way, observation, hands-n, and making a ton of mistakes. Nobody gets to be an advanced user without starting out as a noob.

Now, get those instructions, get that thermal paste, get that cooler...and get to work. BTW, good luck with stock Intel cooler pins. :-)If i change my processor would i have to re-install windows? Not usually, but you may have to.

98% you won't.If i change my processor would i have to re-install windows? No, no need to re install Windows.

If you don't really know what your doing, i would suggest not trying to change your processor.

It is not as simple as take the old one out and put a new one in.... Its always a good idea to reset your BIOS. If you know how to do that, then go ahead and change your proc.
