Back up your files on an external hard drive. But since its a laptop, I'd recommend getting it done professionally.I have windows vista on my laptop and i want to change to windows xp but when i try to install xp it tells me?It wont downgrade like that. You have to back up everything on your drives, save them to a CD or USB storage. Pop in the WinXP CD and hit Del(might be a diff button depending on computer) while the computer is booting up int he BIOS blackscreen. Change to boot from CD, save and restart. Boot from CD, once the windows blue screen loads up you will have to format (complete~2hours or so) the dive and install Windows XP. Hope this helps, and your'e doing the right thing, vista is a memory hog and power hog on laptops.I have windows vista on my laptop and i want to change to windows xp but when i try to install xp it tells me?You can't keep your files, because then you're keeping some driver files that are not compatible with xp, and it's not going to install the other drivers it needs because that folder that holds the files is already built.

Good luck!I have windows vista on my laptop and i want to change to windows xp but when i try to install xp it tells me?google - dual boot vista xp - and do what they say.

I suggest to make a third partition for yur files so both OS cabn see them.

Label the partitions because it can get confusing.I have windows vista on my laptop and i want to change to windows xp but when i try to install xp it tells me?You may find the following link helpful.
