hire a contractor?
Don't even think about suggesting I do it. I'm not handy, and even if I were, I wouldn't go anywhere near gas lines!
Thanks for your input : )I need to change my gas oven -- should I get the store to install it?Probably. Either get the store or a certified gas contractor to do it. I'm assuming you already have a gas line at the old oven. It is not difficult, but you want to be absolutely sure that you have no leaks. Sometimes, an untrained do-it-yourselfer can unknowingly strip a fitting, causing a small but potentially dangerous gas leak.
If the oven were electric, you would simply turn of the beaker, unplug the old one and plug in the new one. With gas, it's a bit more complicated.I need to change my gas oven -- should I get the store to install it?Arrange for the store to do it. That way they guarantee the work.I need to change my gas oven -- should I get the store to install it?Have the store install it if you are buying a new one. Home Depot offers delivery, installation and haul away of your old one on anything over 250.00.
If you already have the replacement you can hire a plumber or furnace man install it.I need to change my gas oven -- should I get the store to install it?Have a plumber do it. They're cheaper than h.d.s contractors. I just got a new stove %26amp; had a plumber disconnect the old one, connect the new one %26amp; even haul the old one outside for me for $40. %26amp; it only took him about 10 min. I feel safer too, knowing it's not leaking.
