I used a recovery CD on my laptop which was for another PC and that recovery CD has created an drive C and its only 3 gig and it also has Windows xp on it. Drive D (which used to be drive C) has also got Windows XP onit. How can i remove drive C and make drive D drive C?. I also bought a windows XP CD later on but befor instaling it i thought i might ask someone what is the best thing to do.How can i change drive D into drive C: And install windows xp onit?Yes you CAN change the drive letter and do it several ways:
One way is to boot your computer with the XP disk. When you get to the screen that asks you to choose a partition. you can delete BOTH C: and D: that will give you a whole, unpartitioned drive. On the next screen, choose your entire hard drive and partition it with NTFS format and install windows on that drive. The drive will, by default, be given the C: notation.
Another way to change the drive letter is through the Disk Manager. Right-click My Computer, Manage. Then Disk Manager on the left. You can do the same here EXCEPT for formatting or changing the letter of the drive Windows is installed. For this reason, I would choose the first method since an XP disk is available. How can i change drive D into drive C: And install windows xp onit? What you can do is reinstall XP and it should let you re partition your drives.
Reinstall XP on the drive you want it on.How can i change drive D into drive C: And install windows xp onit? You can't change your drive D into C, the most you can do is format the D partition %26amp; install windows XP on it. After you do this, format your C drive, this way the programs will now be installed on the D drive. As for physically changing one drive into another, it is damned near impossible %26amp; you have to be Bill Gates for that matter. But the best thing you can do is, take back up of all your data %26amp; then format the whole PC.
I fear this is the only explaination that can be given for your question. I want to help you but this is all I can provide you with.
Hope you r satisfied with the above mentioned information.
All the Best
