(Note: Before patching your dll file, please make a copy of it just to be on safer side. This dll file will be present at C:\Windows\system32)
While patching it, the system will ask you to insert the XP pack CD for restoring the original file. But if you don't have it then its always better to make a copy at beginning only. So that you can ignore all these messages from system. And in case if something gets messed up, you can restore it manually as well. Restart the machine after patching the dll file.
Third party themes normally comes in zipped format either .zip or .rar format. After downloading the theme file, you have to extract it to %26quot;C:\Windows\Resources\Themes%26quot; path. So that it will be displayed in the display properties when you will try to set up through %26quot;Right click on desktop --%26gt; properties%26quot;
For applying the theme for first time, you need to go to %26quot;C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\*Theme_Name?(It can be anything)%26quot; and double click on the %26quot;Theme_Name.msstyles%26quot; file OR you can apply it by clicking the %26quot;Theme_Name.theme%26quot; file which will available here %26quot;C:\Windows\Resources\Themes%26quot;.
Thats it. Enjoy the customized XP now. Hopefully this will resolve your problem.
